The Hamilton Ping-Fest (August 21/99) To see pictures from the Ping, click here. Well, I attended my first Ping-Fest today, and have to say, I had a wonderful time. We Coronation Street fans tend to live in isolation over here in Canada (there are not that many of us), so it was wonderful to meet a group of people who love the Street as much as I do. There was about 20 people there, but I unfortunately only managed to meet a handful. Still, it was a great time, and everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves. Much thanks go out to Nancy and Avis (apologizes if I got the names wrong - I'm awful with names, I'm afraid) for arranging the ping, creating the games, and supplying the prizes (I won a Reg Holdsworth T-Shirt for the anagram competition!). And a special hello to Dianne and Nadine (I'm pretty sure that's their names - told you I was lousy with names! :), with whom I spent most of the evening. Apart from the anagram competition (which I will reproduce later on the page), there was a Coronation Street Bingo game, as well as a Coronation Street trivia challenge. I did very, very poorly on the trivia challenge (for shame!), and only got 4 right out of twenty. In my defense, the questions were pretty tough (the winner got 15 out of 20), and I've only been watching the show for about 9 years or so, so I missed out on all the early-show questions. Hopefully, there will be another Ping-Fest in my area (Southern Ontario) soon, as I look forward to the next one. I'm going to reproduce the anagram contest below. These anagrams were thought up by a very talented and creative lady named Avis, and I hope she doesn't mind me placing them here for you all to see. The anagrams appear below, and you can scroll waaay down for the answers. Each anagram is a scrambled mixture of two first names, each one a famous couple on the Street at one time or another. Good luck! (BTW, I got 11 out of 12).
